Re: Company Invention Disclaimers: msg#00350user-groups.linux.ilug.general
DoC, Colm, > I was asked to propose a license (and chose BSD Not starting a licencing war, but I chose the GPL. The GPL suits me, and I would assume your business as: if a competitor were to use my code and seek a competitive advantage, they would have to compete on the same basis as me. A non-copyleft licence allows my competitors to lift my code. I would prefer that if my competitors do not wish to compete on the same basis, that they do not get a head start by lifting my code. They can start from scratch like I originally did. My situation is different from Colm's, so that explains the difference in licencing choice. Well... that and the fact that I belive the dogma of Richard Stallman. The LGPL is generally a good half way house between GPL and BSD. -- Aidan Delaney email: adelaney@xxxxxxxxx web: http://www.cs.may.ie/~adelaney gpg: http://www.cs.may.ie/~adelaney/public_key.asc
