Subject: Re: OFF TOPIC: Network Cabling

Hi John,

You are correct.

I am punching not crimping. Crimping I've done before. Its getting the cables into the wall boxes and
patch panels that I need.

Several people have responded with the right information and it looks likes a job I can do myself so
long as I am willing to put in the time. So its that old question again, how much is my time worth?

Thanks to everyone who responded.

Keith

Maybe I'm missing something here, but I think the original poster would be doing something more along the lines of punching down rather than crimping. Punch down is much more fun than crimping and, so long as you make sure to pick the appropriate wiring scheme on both ends of your cable run, all should be easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Quick tip from experience: label both ends of the cables when you run them. Guesswork can lead to a messy patch panel.
