Re: HOWTO Encourage Women in Linux! |
Foss-nepal does need some gender issues initiation. I can see there is
a lack of understanding of gender concerns here among some of the
members. At first I myself was not convinced enough about gender issues
in technology. I thought that gender and technology are totally
irrelevant to each other but attending some of the workshops and
reading articles, I am persuaded enough to say that there are issues of
women in technology that has been totally ignored or lets say at least
I was unaware of.
And gender issues is not about the war between a male and female
fighting to prove whose the best or a female trying to snatch away the
male's place but about an initiation to make a room for women to fit
into the man's world. And there are ways to do so. And of course this
place will be too small to discuss such a broad subject/issue. Gender
of course has lot of other correlated social issues attached to it.
