It's basically just a content management system built on .NET (going back to
at least 1.1), with the focus being on blogs, forums, photo, and document
sharing. Similar products would be DotNetNuke, Mambo, Drupal, etc.

Hi All,
I am currently working on a fairly difficult search and am asking for
your assistance. My client is looking for a senior level .NET developer
to create a web portal using Community Server. It is my understanding
that this is a fairly new tool and used primarily for .NET 2.0, is that
correct?
Is this tool similar to Sharepoint? If so, should someone who has used
Sharepoint (or another 3rd party tool) be able to pick this up fairly
quickly?
Was Community Server available for 1.0, or 2.0 only? Are there any other
tools that might be similar to Community Server?
If you know where this tool is being used, I would love to hear any
suggestions. Also, if you or any one you know is interested in
developing a portal in 2.0, I would love to share the details.
