I strongly agree with this suggestion that you look
into SourceOffSite.  VSS checkins and checkouts are
timestamp based, so you can get yourself in trouble if
you have people in different timezones checking in and
out the same files.

(In fact, you can have problems locally if your VSS
server and all the machines accessing it don't have
their system times synched to the same time server.  I
was VSS admin at my previous company, and had a bunch
of users baffled as to why their checkins would
disappear.  Turned out their system times were a few
minutes different and they were working on the same
file.)

Anyway, we had a developer move to another timezone
for a year, and so we got SourceOffSite.  It worked.
