Summary:
. Software Engineer responsible for developing and maintaining
data transfer functionality to electronically exchange data with 3rd party
service providers and customer data systems
Essential Functions:
. Design, implement, and maintain custom software modules.
. Monitor and correct production problems
. Participate in cross-functional project teams.
. Provide estimates of scope of work and time to delivery.
. Ensure quality of deliverables using best practices of
development processes.
Secondary Functions:
. Communicate with 3rd party service providers and customer IT
staff to define, design and implement data exchanges.
Scope and Accountability:
Nature of contacts: Internally, contact with Project Managers (to consult
with the deployment of new products), Customer Services (to troubleshoot
customer problems), other software and SQA Engineers. Externally, contact
with technical customer personnel (to understand any unique requirements in
either pre- or post- sales situations and to resolve technical problems).
Accountability: performs work independently with minimal supervision.
Priorities largely determined by Engineering and Project managers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
. 1-4 years experience of commercial software development
experience
. Minimum 1 year of experience with SQL (MS SQL Server preferred)
. Object-oriented design experience and use of related languages,
specifically C#, C++, VB
. Working knowledge of XML and Web Services
. Experience using standard development tools (source code
management, defect tracking system, integrated development environments,
etc.)
. Ability to multi-task, manage complex processes, work
independently, and adhere to deadlines
. Ability to quickly learn specific underlying product development
technologies and tools
. Strong collaborative skills and team orientation
. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
. Ability to bridge technical and non-technical worlds and manage
internal and external client relationships
. Written communication needed to document software projects
and/or technical procedures. Experience in presentation of technical
information preferred.
