A very good book that helped me learn how to write C# code to
navigate and modify XML data is "MCAD/MCSD Training Guide (70-320):
Developing XML Web Services and Server Components with Visual C# .NET
and the .NET Framework" by Amit Kalani, one of my favorite authors.
One of the first chapters introduces XML navigation, starting with
very basic techniques and then building on each example until you're
doing some relatively cool searching using XPath. The XML chapter
has around a dozen sections/examples, each with complete source
code. He also has step-by-step instructions on creating a small
application in each chapter, and a sort of "test/quiz" section and
the end of each chapter where you test your knowledge without step-by-
step "spoon fed" instructions.
This book was my intro to XML navigation / parsing, and I found it an
excellent resource.
