What will you be doing?
As the Business Intelligence Analyst, you will have the
responsibility of being the liaison and advocate for the end users
of the data warehouse. You will work closely with the users of the
business data to understand the current state of information
availability in the enterprise and identify future needs based on
your analysis of business requirements, the current environment, gap
analysis, and future data warehousing planning.
You will:
-- Understand and define the business users' requirements for
information and communicate them to the data warehouse team through
requirements documentation.
-- Organize and lead joint application development sessions with
different groups of business users. Together you will brainstorm,
explore options, weigh approaches, and make decisions on which data
and which decision support applications would be most beneficial.
-- Help set priorities when there are more requests than there is
time or resources to accommodate.
-- Write and maintain reports, and assist users in creation of their
own reports. Marshal user created reports to ensure they portray the
data correctly.
-- Remain knowledgeable about the business, its processes, and the
operational data that supports the business including information
included in the various applications web logs.
-- In cooperation with the Data Administrator, help to establish the
true definition of the data, what data is needed, what format is
needed, and whether the data should be detailed, summary or both.
-- Establish the security profile on the data in the data warehouse.
-- Constantly scrutinize and monitor the quality of the data through
analysis of existing reports and adhoc reports.
-- Lead the identification and documentation of business metrics.
-- Oversee testing of data acquisition processes and their
implementation into production.
-- Help the business identify additional possibilities and
the "killer" applications that would give the organization a
significant boost in revenue, cost reduction, or customer
satisfaction.
-- Act as an information consultant to the data warehouse
architects, administrators, and engineers.
Required Skills, Education & Experience
-- BS in Business, MIS (Management Information Systems), or Computer
Science
-- 5 years in business analysis or systems analysis
-- Proficiency in SQL
-- Preferred experience in Cognos / MS OLAP Cubes/ MS Reporting
