Re: [uml-user] samba server within uml: msg#00320

Subject: Re: [uml-user] samba server within uml
hi!
this COULD be just an ordinary samba/windows network "browsing" problem.
browse the samba docs or request help on the samba mailinglist.
setting up an wins server for solving that is overkill and not very
elegant, imho. why should one need a wins server on a bridged network?
(btw: are you running your umls in bridged mode?)

could you describe your setup more detailed?
seems you aren`t using uml in ordinary "bridged" mode. only your bridge
interface
needs an ip assigned and the uml ip`s are just assigned inside each uml.
i would recommend "ordinary" bridged mode as described in
http://edeca.net/articles/bridging/index.html because other variants are not
that
easy and "bullet proof"(imho), especially when coming to broadcasting and that
stuff....

roland
