Re: [uml-user] Which distribution for host?: msg#00320

Subject: Re: [uml-user] Which distribution for host?
I had trouble installing slackware...

i created a blank filesystem and then ran

installpkg -root /mnt/uml_fs a/*.tgz ap/*.tgz d/*.tgz l/*.tgz

then i edited the fstab to add the entries for proc and /.

When i tried to boot the filesystem it said cannot execute /etc/rc.d/rc.S and then it hangs trying to spawn too many getty's...

Does it really matter which distribution I use to setup my UML host? Can I, for instance, setup Mandrake as my host, then install UML with the Debian file system available on the UML site? Any issues here?

As I understand it, the FS I choose to use with UML decides what flavor or Linux my UML install will be; the choice of host is basically immaterial. Right?
