I'm early in thinking about how uml could boot of a hostfs. Given that you
can boot your host machine, you could probably boot a uml off the same
file-system, so that might help you. (If people know why this is
impossible, please feel free to tell me)
If it would, you could also (I think, but don't know how) mount a file on
your host machine as a loop-back file-system, copy the important bits of
your host file-system into it, unmount it and use it as a ubd.
I expect that you can work out the second one faster than I can work out
the first.
