Do you mean amaroK, or some other media player? Because K3b burns CD's.
For ubuntu, you can find instructions on enabling MP3 playing in these sites:

I guess it should be the same in Kubuntu. But somehow my Kubuntu is able to
play MP3's out of the box, without installing anything (using amaroK).
Is this normal?
