Yes, I worked that one out about Drupal in the end last night, thanks!
I suppose Xoops is the same.

Regarding tables, there are numerous web design gurus who advocate using
a few tables for layout because, well, sometimes tables just make sense.
Just don't nest them to kingdom come.

If it's actually tablulated data, eg a list of bank interest rates,
then of course I'd use them. But using them to mark the shape of the
page up is a no-no as far as I'm concerned. What exactly did you
mean, out of interest?

You've got me started thinking about putting together a guide to
choosing a CMS - some simple questions to ask [...]

That's be great! There are lists of features to compare, etc, and of
course opensourcecms.com to try them out. But unless you've already
used a CMS before it's difficult to compare them. A "what do I
need"/"will it do it" guide like you mention would be ideal.

Society, is workflow or fine-grained access control [...]

Yes, it is. I suppose I wrongly assumed that all the big CMSes would
do that. I'll have a look into it - thanks :). I'm pretty much set
on Drupal at the moment, anything else aside I just like the feel of
it.
