Software Freedom Day plans |
Hi,
With SFD [0] coming up in September I wondered what plans (in any state)
people had for the day.
We (Hampshire Linux User group [1]) have discussed some options on our
mailing list, and I've made a few enquiries. I asked a shopping centre in a
major town about exhibition space - but that seemed prohibitively expensive.
They also said they don't allow companies to leaflet. I guess I could
respond with "we're not a company", but I suspect the shutters would still
come down hard.
We have a venue with some space and fast net access which might be useful
for an installfest, but there's also the matter of promotion. Do we go
leafletting the week leading up to SFD? Do we put ads in local rags, and
possibly on local radio? Maybe all of the above?
What have others done in past years? What help (if any) can we get from
Canonical (assuming they're still sponsoring SFD)?
Cheers,
Al.
