But Exaile (http://www.exaile.org/) is written in Python and is a bit slow (though I still use it). On the other hand, it's probably faster than AmaroK...

It's not that bad. No Gnome depends. Do sudo dpkg -i /path/to/exaile.deb then sudo aptitude fix exaile and you are good to go.
