bug report: msg#00028

Subject: bug report
Package: linux
Summary: latest security update breaks hyperthreading
Description: According to
https://www.ubuntulinux.org/support/documentation/usn/usn-131-1:

" HyperThreading has
been disabled in the updated kernel packages for now. You can manually
enable HyperThreading again by passing the kernel parameter "ht=on" at
boot. (CAN-2005-0109) "

However, on a warty system:

dilinger@jack:~ $ dmesg |grep Hyper
CPU: Hyper-Threading is disabled
dilinger@jack:~ $ cat /proc/cmdline
root=/dev/hda1 ro ht=on quiet splash

This is w/ linux-image-2.6.8.1-5-686-smp 2.6.8.1-16.18.

I'm sending this here because bugzilla is an utter piece of shit that
won't allow me to file a bug on the linux package w/ firefox 0.9.3. Blah
blah, chemical fire, wank, and so on.
