Choosing A Webhost:
A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to provide their own website accessible via the World Wide Web. Yes, as Oliver points out, default ubuntu flavours demands more than
what the LUG plans.

Edubuntu could work very well on those machines as thin clients.

However, I have successfully installed Edubuntu 'light' version, but via
a manual process.
This means:

 * I have netboot installed the old pcs (Live cd install won't run), but
that will install a minimal/server mode. (only command line)

 * Then, I have used APT to install Fluxbox or Ion2, XDM (not GDM), and
Abiword, Gnumeric, Gcompris (if PC has 64 MB... user must be
patient :) ) and a couple of other applications.
For web browsing, Firefox could be too much for old pc's. However,
'elinks', and 'dillo' can be an option. Also, there is a project (for
handhelds and PDA's) called 'minimo' which is a light-Firefox but I
guess that would mean to port it to x86.

I am sure that guys from Fluxbuntu could have much more to say about it
(#fluxbuntu).

Regards,
