That configuration file is a GDM configuration file. It probably worked
on your old system because it used GDM and XDMCP. Edubuntu uses LDM
instead of GDM, it uses SSH which is more secure. LDM doesn't support
auto-login yet, but the developers are on the list and they might
provide you with a quick hack to make LDM auto-log in a user. If you
know some Python, you could probably even do it yourself :)
