I want to use Linux on the desktop, at least try it out.
My problem is that KDE and GNOME has been inaccessible to me due to my
poor vision.
I have been using Linux on servers for quite a long time now, but I have
to administrate them using Windows and Putty.
The reason for that is just because I have a very good magnifier
software called Supernova which unfortunately only are available on Windows.
I tried Gnopernicus on a Ubuntu installation once (I think it was the
last stable release) but I cannot use Gnopernicus at all.
With Supernova I get fullscreen magnification and I'm also able to
administrate Linux servers at work and at home.
Supernova gives me a brilliant magnification (in fullscreen using one
monitor) and its also very easy to switch between inverted colours which
is very important to me.
I only have to press Ctrl+0 (on the numpad) to switch between inverted
colours (high contrast white text on black background) and regular
Windows colours.
Focus tracking are also essential to me, I get focus tracking in all
applications including Putty which is very important to me since I do
much of my work in a Unix shell.
I have read about Gnopernicus in the GNOME Accessibility Guide but I
cannot get it to work for me.
Do I need 2 monitors?
If I have to monitors will I have a fullscreen magnifier on one of the
screens?
Does anyone know how Gnopernicus works compared to Supernova?
I would love to use Linux on my Desktop and appreciate all help.
