I've had this happen to me before, but not just on Ubuntu... I'd usually
just try to connect again, and if that didnt work either disable/renable
wireless netowrking (from network manager) or turn off/turn on my
wireless card (from a little button/switch on the laptop) and try again.

It could also be a sign that their router is a piece of garbage, or that
the radio card is dying (both have also happened to me)

just my experiences...
