You can try to convert the .rm file to e.g. a .ogg file at http://www.mediaconverter.org/ Then Totem should be able to play it. Oh, and the package is xubuntu-restricted-extras :)

OK, I tried sudo apt-get media converter and got nowhere. I tried the link you sent, and it looks like all I should do is drag-and-drop. Is that true? There's not really a lot of info in the screen.
