[xubuntu-users] Log out xfce dialog box is gone

Xfce 4 Desktop Environment
version 4.6.0 (Xfce 4.6)

Xubuntu 9.04

When I go to the Applications menu and hit logout I usually see a small box 
with choices/buttons provided by Xfce, restart or shutdown and things like 
that. But now when I hit logout from the menu it goes directly to a login 
screen along with a bunch of console info flashing on the screen before it gets 
to this log in screen - seems kind of like what happens if I manually type 
shutdown in the console. How do I get the xfce box back?
