Summary: tv_check more than 1 week ahead

Initial Comment:
Version: xmltv-0.5.15-win32

Using tv_check on a listings file more than six days in
the future or for a past date produces an empty listing.
IOW it works for the one week period beginning with the
current date.

For example:

listings30721.xml contains 7/21/03 data.

Command: xmltv tv_check --scan --listings
listings30721.xml --output check.txt

Running the above command on 7/14 doesn't list any
shows. Running the same command on 7/15 produces a
normal listing. Changing the system date is a
workaround, but introduces other problems.

The future date issue was not a problem in xmltv-0.5.10-
win32. I don't know if it occurred in xmltv-0.5.14-win32.

Is this a bug or a feature?

Thanks for your support,

Ron

there are two parts to the scan.. the first is for scheduled
programs. (far left column) The second part is for "extra"
episodes (indented).

--notruncate allows episodes after a week to show up in the
"extra" episode scan.

--days allows more than a week to show up in the first scan.

The extra episode scan is also limited to --days, but that
can be overridden with --notruncate.

Robert,

I thought that this had been fixed because I've been using
TV_CHECK to generate listings more than a week out. I think
that adding the --notruncate switch made it work.

What does the new release do differently?

Thanks,

Ron

Some kind of override switch (e.g., --alldates) would be
desirable. This would avoid problems with systems designed
for only one week of data, but allow other systems access to
all available future (and past) data.

Thanks again for your support,

Ron

this is a design limitation. TV_CHECK was only designed to
report on the up-coming week.

If desired, I can consider this for a future feature, but I
can see it causing lots of problems, espeically with
myreplaytv integration.
