Summary: no programs found errors
Initial Comment:
When grabbing listings for Canada I often get errors like
this:
zap2it page format looks okay, but no programs found
(no available data yet ?)
unretry-able error reading schedule for 2004-1-5 for
station 209 WPIX
which I suspect are communications/server problems
and not a lack of listings, but it seems like it will not try
to get those listings again. Is there any way to force
xmltv to retry under any circumstances?
Thanks.

FYI: there isn't currently a way to force these unretryable
errors to be retried; it could be added as a feature, but I
think you need to give some evidence that the problems are
communications-related.
Look at around line 1985 of tv_grab_na in the most recent
release (0.5.29). If you remove the 'last' for the
'unretry-able' case then these errors will be retried like
others. If you really do see such an error happen, but then
get fixed on the next try, then there is a case for adding
these retries to the distributed tv_grab_na.
