Heh. In the xmltv project we have been working towards the same
thing, but of course in Perl not Python. I don't yet have a full
'framework' (one has been written, but its developer and I between us
haven't had time to merge it yet) but there are libraries handling
tasks like channel configuration, downloading web pages with caching,
parsing and unparsing dates (handling summer time changeovers), and
other stuff. I don't think we can share code directly if we use
different languages, but you might want to look at the XMLTV grabbers
(say tv_grab_fi and tv_grab_nl_wolf) for examples.

But of course ;-P.

Have you followed the discussions about the new version of the
format? If there is any listings information you have available that
the current xmltv format cannot represent please let me know.

Well, I stopped supporting perl 5.005 with the last release, so I
guess I could stop supporting Python 1.x as well. But anyway, if you
have a separate project then perhaps the grabber would not be
distributed with xmltv anyway.

Okay. In the meantime, if anyone makes the necessary improvements to
tv_grab_be I could include it in the xmltv distribution.
