Timetable for 0.5.3 release: msg#00092tv.xmltv.devel
When I made the last release I didn't give enough notice and enough time to test and prepare distributions. So this time I want to fill you in on the plans for 0.5.3. We are waiting on the 3.09 XML::Twig release. The current development version of XML::Twig is required for the current development version of xmltv because it fixes the 'did not return a true value' bug under perl 5.8. Clearly xmltv shouldn't be officially released until its dependency is. The maintainer of XML::Twig has said to expect a release in around a couple of weeks. When XML::Twig-3.09 hits CPAN I plan to release xmltv-0.5.3 pronto. There are two new grabbers for possible inclusion in the project: _nz and _au. If either of these is ready in time then it can go in. Also there's the tv_split program which has been planned for a while: I might write it myself if I get a moment. It would avoid the need to add multiple output files to all the grabbers. In general I think the current CVS is ready to release. The Windows binary generation has been sorted out I think (would be nice to add that timezone stuff in time for the next version) and the Unix Makefile.PL seems okay. But let me know if there are any remaining installation problems (big or small). -- Ed Avis <ed@xxxxxxxxxxx>
