XML::DOM and Tk::TableMatrix: msg#00000

tv.xmltv.devel

Subject: XML::DOM and Tk::TableMatrix

Hello,

While doing an install of XMLTV, I ran into a couple
"problems" that should be pointed out with regards to
these two modules:

1. XML::DOM (RPM package) - It seems that while the
RPM that can be downloaded for this particular module
installs just fine, XMLTV does not recognize that it
is installed when you run the "perl Makefile.PL". I
am not sure if this is an error on the RPM's part or
XMLTV's. However, for the time-being, it seems that
XML::DOM needs to be installed manually (or via CPAN).
Is there a way to correct this, either with the RPM
or within the XMLTV Makefile.PL itself (to recognize
that XML::DOM via RPM is indeed present). A note when
installing this module via CPAN: it will fail several
of the tests during "make test", and so will
ultimately installed manually, but doing it via CPAN
seems to install a couple of Perl modules/packages
that XML::DOM is dependent upon.

2. There doesn't seem to be an RPM for
Tk::TableMatrix, so again, it needs to be installed
manually, since it fails several of the "make test"
(just go into the sources directory, and do a "make
install", and not "make test"). It can be a bit
troublesome to install since it relies on several
other libraries being installed, such as
XFree86-devel, and I *believe* the Tk perl module
needs to be installed as well (if you use Mandrake
8.2, you can install the perl-Tk-* RPMS).
Additionally, you may need to do the following, or
else the building of Tk::TableMatrix may fail:

# cd /usr/lib
# ln -s libpt.so.1 libpt.so

(check to see if libpt.so exists first, before doing
that symlink).

Hope this helps someone.
