Re: XML Schema for XTM DTD: msg#00066text.xml.xtm.general
* Anthony B. Coates | | I would certainly suggest that the way ahead for an ISO spec is to | use RELAX NG as the normative schema language in future, rather than | DTDs. I note that both you and Kal think so. I'm happy to stay with DTDs, but we'll see what other people think. I personally don't mind using RELAX-NG as the normative version instead. | I would also suggest that it would then be a good process to | generate the W3C XML Schema from the RELAX NG schema automatically | using James Clark's Trang, rather than creating the W3C XML Schema | in a way that requires manual intervention. That should aid the | quality control. It certainly makes sense as a first step, I agree. Anyway, it seems that people are in favour of creating these schemas, and adding them to the specification, so we'll do that and have them as appendices to the next draft. The way the current XTM syntax spec is written rather depends on having a concise schema language (and also on the DTD), so I think the next draft probably will still have DTDs as the normative schema language, but we can discuss which one to choose in London. -- Lars Marius Garshol, Ontopian <URL: http://www.ontopia.net > GSM: +47 98 21 55 50 <URL: http://www.garshol.priv.no > |
