It's probably well know on the list that James Clark publishes a tool
called 'Trang' for converting among DTD, RELAX NG, RELAX compact syntax
and W3C Schema. It's here:

It's a tool that comes with a good pedigree; perhaps it can have a role
here? Along with some of the other utilities you'll find on that web site.
