I was facing the exact same issues. pulled all the hairs out of my head for few days till I discovered this. Sorry too late reading this posting.

Well maybe IMHO the parameter name of the methods can be made more descriptive (instead of just s) to make them intutive. Most of the current IDEs will tool tip prompt the signature of the method while coding it and that may strike the light bulb on to avoid such situation...
