This is a limitation of XPATH. There is no facility
for date comparison (will be in a future version).
I got around this by specifying date/time in
"milliseconds since epoch" form. Numeric
values can be indexed and compared using
Xindice.
One can then apply a numeric (e.g. integer) index
to this element or attribute.
However, numeric indices for multi-byte values
are broken in xindice. I use a modified version
of xindice that I've patched to work correctly
for 0 and positive values (fixing the problem for
negative values is much more involved).
