Hi there,

I've been a Chicoon user for a while and I'm interested in attempting
to merge to the current (web) release of Chiba as I'm interested in
the AJAX style form controls. I've been looking at the stylesheets
and obviously things have changed since the release of Chiba 0.9.9. I
suppose I'm looking for clarification and suggestions on what needs
to be done to bring Chicoon up to the current version (1.2.0 + the
Web extensions of 2.0rc).

If I understand correctly Chicoon is a branch from the 0.9.9 Chiba
release and therefore I should check out the 0.9.9 release to check
for how Chicoon differs.

The version of xerces has been changed to a more recent release. When
I was experimenting with the code I tried using Saxon rather than
updating xerces. After changing the stylesheet version number I was
making progress (that is it was producing forms though without
scripting and you couldn't submit them :D). I might stick with this
for now rather than change Xerces (which Cocoon relies on as well);
we can always change it later if I get it working in this instance.

how can Saxon replace Xerces? Please enlighten me ;)

Will the Chiba Adapter classes will need to be reworked?
your help is appreciated.

Yes, i think the Adapter classes have changed signatures since 0.9.9. Though most of the changes needed should be obvious. If not feel free to ask. I'll do my best to support your effort.

Anything else that people can think of off the top of their head?
you'll need to find a way to integrate the DWR Servlet into Cocoon to handle the AJAX calls.

Oh while I was trying it with Saxon I encountered the following
errors:

Error at xsl:call-template on line 565 of html-form-controls.xsl: XTSE0680: Parameter value is not declared in the called template Error at xsl:call-template on line 627 of html-form-controls.xsl: XTSE0680: Parameter value is not declared in the called template

Looking at the template it appears it hasn't had the value parameter
declared. I added it to resolve this problem. Though I'm aware that
this is probably because XSLT 2.0 is a little more strict it might be
worth looking at if the parameter should be there.
agree. Thanks for reporting these. But can you please specify the statements on these lines - think the stylesheets have changed again and the lines does not fit any more.

Thanks,

Joern

Thanks,

Gary
