how can Saxon replace Xerces? Please enlighten me ;)

Yes, i think the Adapter classes have changed signatures since 0.9.9. 
Though most of the changes needed should be obvious. If not feel free to 
ask. I'll do my best to support your effort.

you'll need to find a way to integrate the DWR Servlet into Cocoon to 
handle the AJAX calls.

agree. Thanks for reporting these. But can you please specify the 
statements on these lines - think the stylesheets have changed again and 
the lines does not fit any more.
