hi *,
i did it - 'chiba-servlet' and 'chiba-sandbox' are two separate cvs
modules now.
'chiba-sandbox' now contains only the core classes needed by ChibaBean,
along with Connectors, Schema2XFormsBuilder and UIGenerator classes.
'chiba-servlet' uses chiba.jar as lib (build from chiba-sandbox) and
contains all the web-files, samples, script and xslt stuff.
from now on different dist will be released for 'Chiba' and
'ChibaServlet' - meaning core and webapp integration.
Chicoon already uses chiba.jar so no modification is needed here. same
applies to Convex.
i expect the version numbering will converge for the different dists -
it may well be that core-updates don't require a package change to
ChibaServlet, Chicoon or Convex and vice versa.
i hope this separation will also help to sort out problems with the code
more quickly and send them to their corners so please keep in mind to
mention the package when bringing up an issue.
thanks,
Joern

Hi *, dear Chiba members,
just planning to split the current chiba-sandbox and default
distribution into 'core' and 'chiba-servlet'.
why?:
- Chiba is already a component that's pluggable either client- or
server-side (or even both ;) - makes sense to develop ChibaBean further
in its own place.
- ChibaServlet is just one reference implementation showing how to do it
in the classical servlet manner.
- separation of the two might help to improve the interfaces further.
- on the other hand interfaces are stable enough that not every Chiba
upgrade also forces an ChibaServlet update and vice versa.
consequences:
- there would be two distributions in the future - Chiba and ChibaServlet
- ChibaServlet would use Chiba as a lib (jar-file)
- there will be two modules in CVS: 'chiba-sandbox' will continue to be
used for the core and 'chiba-servlet' containing the web-stuff
- soc
if nobody shouts out why this pair shouldn't be divorced ... tell me
what you think.
