Hello *,
i felt it's about time to announce some upcoming events within the Chiba
project and take that occasion to request your help to get this right...
first of all apologies for the inconveniences caused by the latest
release 0.9.7 which has a dist problem (wrong version tag in some files)
which caused some confusion.
But now on to the more interesting upcoming releases:
1. Chiba
...........
we're working hard to get Chiba 1.0 ready this year. this will implement
about 99% of XForms 1.0 (we're not talking about the 1% ain't we? ;) and
occur after another two releases (you guess? 0.9.8, 0.9.9).
the tasks that are still on our todo list:
a. implement xforms:range (with some limitations) - already in progress
b. implement xforms:copy
c. fix (at least all major) bugs that are still reported on Chiba's
projectpage
2. Convex
............
while 1. has biggest priority we're about to release our client-side
Chiba processor 'Convex'. Convex is a hidden java applet working
currently only in IE6 but maybe easily ported to Mozilla/Firefox.
developers may already access this project via CVS, module 'convex'.
while convex is running in IE quite good for now there's no concrete
release date fixed yet.
3. Chicoon
............
has been updated to 0.9.6 (thanks to Andrzej) and will be adapted to
latest Chiba release asap. there are only some install instructions and
samples missing to release current code. the updated version may follow
soon after that. - some cocoon geeks outside that can help?
the priorities for 2. and 3. will depend on the degree of demand they'll
receive.
we'll need and appreciate all the help you can provide by reporting
bugs, inconveniences and other 'bad smell'. sure we're also happy about
patches, code, sample forms, tests, documentation, success stories and
any other contributions (even money ;)
when you report an issue please give an detailed description with an
example form if applicable to allow us quick reconstruction of the
problem. if you have such, feel free to use the bug-reporting feature on
the projectpage. if unsure about an issue please report to one of the
mailing-lists for discussion first.
thanks for all your support.
Joern
