   Hello,

I have been watching this thread about markup in labels and I think it has
some influence on what we plan to do with XForms.

I have been trying to generate a listing of DB table rows (be it news,
articles, banners, interviews or other kind of content) using Chiba and
the new itemset support, but there were some problems. This list would
allow picking up one or more rows (by checkbox) and press a button to
delete or edit one of them - then taking the user to another form.

The main problem is that we need to show two or more columns for each row
(for example, the title and the date of an article). If labels are to be
regarded as simpleContent without markup, or more specifically, without
sub-elements, there seems to be no convenient way to generate this
"multi-label" listing.
are you aware of the fact that you're allowed to use output elements in labels? shouldn't this allow to display a combined value as label?

not sure, if i understand your usecase right.

We would love using Chiba for doing it, but as XForms specification does
not seems to provide support for it (some may argue this kind of listing
is not a form, but I see no reason why it shouldn't be), we will have to
write a separate code for generating those listings but still use Chiba to
generate insert, edit, search forms.
on the other hand we're open to extensions that make sense. we only have to find a way to separate cleanly between standard and extended behaviour. can you give a concrete form example that shows what you'd like to achieve?
