hello,
(hope you don't mind i cc'ed this to the mailing list)
the core of Chiba is not dependent on HTML - would be a sad solution for
a XForms processor - but the current XSLT stylesheets are. so, basically
what you'll have to do to support another markup is to write your own
stylesheet to match and output that markup. the xforms markup may be
contained in any document (the processor won't care) but you have to
take Chibas internal DOM when its time to render and feed it through
your own stylesheet.
please note that the HtmlGenerator class is somewhat misleadingly named
so cause it will happily use any stylesheet and is a general transformer.
i'm actually not up-to-date with 0.8 (working on 0.9.3 ;) but i think
the same applies.
if you have further interest in this topic and try a solution i would
welcome to move the discussion to the mailinglist. (you may also use
gmane.org to read/post messages)
we'll be happy to assist you in your efforts and are also very
interested to use something different to html - so what do you like to
use as a container?
best,
Joern

Dear Mr. Turner,
I have been trying to use a different xml based markup language as
hosting document for XForms but do not seem to be successful to get it
to run with chiba (using version 0.8). Is it possible to use a different
markup language, not xhtml, as host document for xforms? Or is Chiba
limited to the use of XHTML? If Chiba 0.8 is limited, is there a new
version that supports any xml-based markup language?
Thanks for helping and best regards,
Matthias Winkler
