I think there's definitely a place for this approach, especially for
relatively simple transformations of large documents. It would be nice to
think that XSLT should be able to tackle all transformations, and we might
yet see a time when such transformations can be handled serially, but we're
not there yet, and STX is a reasonable alternative.

I've only looked at it "in principle" though, I haven't really studied the
detailed design of the language, let alone the implementations.
