    using xsl:message terminate="yes" or by calling the error() 
    function. 

Yes, far better option. I'll get used to these new names, honest!


   It's then undefined whether the stylesheet has 
    produced any usable output before it terminated.
    (Since order of execution is undefined, you can't tell what 
    was done before the termination).

And since its fatal I don't care whether any output is created.
