attribute namespace in XUpdate

I tried to append an element using xupdate, which had an attribute with namespace,

 

<xu:append>

<xu:element name="myelem">

<xu:attribute name="myattr" namespace="myns">value</xu:attribute>

</xu:element>

</xu:append>

 

but the namespace did not show in the updated document. What would be the correct way to do this? or is there a problem with the xupdate implementation? Thanks.
