File permissions on exist

Hi:
  I installed exist under tomcat. What should be the owner/group of all
exist folder and files? What should be the permissions of these folder
and files. My current setting is the owner and group are all "tomcat",
seems like it give me a lot of trouble, unable to write files, etc.
