Subject: Re: citekey order?

Let me go back to this.

Is the bib list ever sorted on the citekey value (rather than
author-author, which I have seen)?

Yes, that's what _I_ typically see :-).

Am I wrong, then, and is the citekey style *always* sorted on the citekey value?

I've got variable sorting working now. The stylesheets accept three kinds of sorts: cited (the order of citation), author-year, and citekey.

My idea is that the style schema would only ask a user to choose a sort order in a class of citation that actually needed such a choice. It seems to me the only one that obviously qualifies is the number style. So, that class with a sort order option of author-year, would result in this:

A citation [5].

 Some more citations: [2, 3, 1, 4]. A citation [2].

Do any other kinds of citation styles require a choice of sort order? Also, should the year suffixes be dropped in the number style?
