Actually the problem is caused by missing quotes in a SQL query
generated by RefDB. This problem has been fixed in the 0.9.5
prereleases since approx. April 2004. It is going to be fixed in the
upcoming 0.9.5 release. Please use the latest prerelease or the
current CVS version if you don't want to wait. Be aware that all
upgrades may require rebuilding your reference and/or system
databases.
While testing your example dataset (thanks for that, ready-to-use
examples make debugging a breeze) I came across a different problem
though. I'm not too familiar with conference proceedings. They're
currently treated using a similar structure like a book in a
series. The way you coded your entry assumes that the structure is
similar to an article in a journal. Is it a general consensus that the
current behaviour is wrong and should be fixed?

This is correct. I assumed that the config file is sufficient for
non-interactive clients. If you do need that command-line option
though, I can of course add it. It will cause a clash with the current
meaning of the -i option, but this is a minor problem.
regards,
Markus
