The second run is just importing 300-odd images.
It does not reprocess the LaTeX source of your document.
There's only ~10 lines of LaTeX coding needed for this.


You keep referring to the crop-mark option in Apple's Print manager, BTW, but I could not find any such thing. Unfortunately I do not have access to Acrobat Pro to try that one out.

Acrobat has an "Advanced Printing Options" screen.
It looks like this (in Acrobat 6.0):

For other applications, you will need to devise an appropriate ColorSync filter
to be included with your print job. This is done using the ColorSync Utility.

Here's a screen shot that suggests what may be possible:

You ought to be able to just use this PDFX-3 filter
and have a TrimBox printed.

I've not actually done this myself.
Maybe others have done so.
