Re: A modest proposal: msg#00475tex.macosx
I usually try to send only plain text messages to the list, but occasionally I miss it, since rtf is the default setting of my Apple Mail application, which I don't want to change. The particular offense, which I am responsible of and which I admit to, because of the overwhelming evidence, results from pasting a formatted Applescript to my message, which is easier to be read and and to be understood as its plain text version. I even confess that, when doing it the second time, I deliberately decided not to change the format to plain text, because my first accidental rtf message was transformed to plain text when I received it from the list server. It appears that the insistence of "plain text only" messages is caused by the digested version of the list, the merits of which I don't know nor do I want to know. However, sometimes it is very helpful to absorb information in the form of a rtf formatted text instead of plain text. Hence, if it would be technically possible to feed the digest only with plain text messages, and present rtf messages only in the ordinary list, I would opt for this model. Excuse me if I name offending parties, but maybe they are not even aware of the problem: Alain Schremmer and Claus Gerhardt make us wade through a sea of unnecessary "<color><param>4040,8080,0000</param>process_name</color>" tags. Could you please set your mail-agents to send pure text messages?
