Yesterday I installed TL on sparc-solaris2.7 from mounted
rc-texlive2003-live-20030923.iso (texlive_recommended + cyrillic language
collection),
ran latex on simple test file:

\usepackage[english,ukrainian]{babel}
\begin{document}

\end{document}
mktextfm (mf-nowin) failed to generate font (larm1000):

turns up empty here. So how is it possible you have these when I do not
ship them? Are we certain that you have actually installed what I have

Perhaps the directory mf was trying to output to was not writable?
I was able to generate larm1000 in my tl2003 install.
We really should get the actual output filename and errno into that
message ... Olaf?
