I'm not sure about the license, but because mpg123 is not in the Debian
standard package lists, I wouldn't be surprised.

But the real issue from what I understand it that mpg123 uses copy
protected portions of code (I assume for mp3 decoding), with the
'justification' that these copy writes are not actively enforced.

I'm using a Debian based distribution called 'Xorcom Rapid'
(http://www.xorcom.com/products.html) for my production asterisk
install, and they use sox for the MOH, so obviously there are other
options.

OT: this distro is very slick if you need to get an asterisk install
running with very little effort, I personally love the way they have the
* configuration split out... but it doesn't include AMP, and because the
way the configuration is done, I doubt it would be able to support it
with out some serious hacking on AMP

I had some issues arise last night that didn't allow me any 'home time'
(joys of being a sysadmin), but I should get to these instructions
tonight.
