Subject: Re: General understanding problems, Incoming Calls, Trunks, Outbound Routing, DID Routes? And what about localisation?

hi michael,

I want to use AMP/Asterisk with two HFC ISDN-cards so I need some custom changes.

if you use bristuff your isdn-lines become zap-channels. and zap configuration can be done with amp

So is the "Incoming Calls"-section in any way important for me? I see the problem in the fact that there I can tell the system _exactly_ one extension that is to be called. But since I have got an ISDN line with 100 possible extensions (-0 to -99) this isn't suitable for me. Or am I wrong?

set up your did-routes (inbound routing) with your msns

At the trunks I'm asking myself if I have to use the custom trunk for my ISDN line (we will not use SIP or IAX) or the ZAP trunk since the BRIStuff-patch seems to modify ZAP.

use the given zap/g0 trunk and modify your zapata.conf

Another problem exists in the fact that I don't really know how to implement the german patterns. The german systems differs totally from the US system. In germany the numbers have different length. Not only the local numbers can be different in length but also the long distance numbers for different cities.

Example:
Hamburg has go the Number 040
Hannover is 0511
Celle is 05141

When I'm in Celle and want to dial the local number 123123 I only have to dial 123123. When I want to dial the Number 321321321 in Hamburg I have to dial 040321321321.

The length of the city number plus the local number isn't static as well. In my city some local numbers got 4 digits, some others 5 and the rest 6.

How can I define that? If I want to make an external call with my system I want to dial the number as a prefix "0". So if I want to call the local number 123123 I dial 0123123. If I want to dial to Hamburg I dial 0040321321321.

set in zap/g0 trunk and outbound routing your dial roules to 0|.
we always dial the complete number, including local prefix.
in other european countries its no longer possible to dial the local number without prefix (f.e. switzerland since 2005).

best regards,
alex
