Subject: Difficulties configuring a Zaptel trunk for inbound

Dear All,

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. I am in the middle of deploying asterisk and AMP on a new system. I have successfully connected one station and one analog line to my Asterisk system and configured outbound calling with AMP. All seems well there.

Next I am trying to set up inbound calling. As a simple initial setup, I routed inbound calls to the one station which I've configured with a simple extension, however, when the number is called, the following appears in the Asterisk CLI:

-- Starting simple switch on 'Zap/9-1'
== Starting Zap/9-1 at demo,s,1 failed so falling back to exten 's'
== Starting Zap/9-1 at demo,s,1 still failed so falling back to context 'default'
-- Executing Playback("Zap/9-1", "vm-goodbye") in new stack
-- Playing 'vm-goodbye' (language 'en')
-- Executing Macro("Zap/9-1", "hangupcall") in new stack
-- Executing ResetCDR("Zap/9-1", "w") in new stack
-- Executing NoCDR("Zap/9-1", "") in new stack
-- Executing Wait("Zap/9-1", "5") in new stack
-- Executing Hangup("Zap/9-1", "") in new stack
== Spawn extension (macro-hangupcall, s, 4) exited non-zero on 'Zap/9-1' in macro 'hangupcall'
== Spawn extension (default, s, 2) exited non-zero on 'Zap/9-1'
-- Hungup 'Zap/9-1'

What happens is that the line rings a couple of times and then Asterisk hangs up.

I have been through the AMP pages many times looking for a section on configuring inbound routing/calling for a Zaptel trunk and I have not found anything like this. IAX trunks do have an incoming section, but not zaptel trunks.

Also, it is very obvious how to setup up outbound routing on Zaptel trunks and I have verified that this is working without a problem - I can make an outbound call and it does go through the correct trunk.

Any advice on this would be appreciated. Seems like I'm missing something very basic here.

Thanks,

Ron
