It depends what your goal is, really. I run my system with a RAID1 setup
(mirrored drives) so if a drive does fail, the system won't (and I'll
get an email, at which point I can replace the drive). I also do
nightly backups (using rsync) to another system, and keep copies of
backups offsite, so it really minimizes the damages that can happen.
