As I said, I could see nothing wrong in the PwLib code. Even though I didn't
spend much time on this (the proposed workaround is enough for my purpose), I
have written an ALSA driver before so am not like a total newbie.

The sample is a wav file that plays well on another machine with the exact same
program (but FC3 instead of Ubuntu/Debian). This ain't the problem. Maybe it
was the driver...

In any case, I am not at liberty to send you a sample program. But if it works
for the GnomeMeeting team, fine. Just wanted to help you out.
